Scorrier residents invited to visit recycling centre & transfer station
21st April 2008
Local residents in the Scorrier area are being invited on an organised visit to a SITA Cornwall recycling centre and transfer station at St. Erth, whose construction has recently been completed and which is very similar to the proposed facility at Scorrier. The new facility proposed at Scorrier is being needed to replace the existing waste management facilities at United Mines, St. Day which are due to close in 2010.
Since holding an exhibition in the village in September 2007, which displayed plans for the proposed recycling facility, SITA Cornwall have further developed the plans improving the internal layout and the traffic flows and addressing some of the points raised by residents.
Free buses for residents to visit the St. Erth recycling centre and transfer station will depart from Scorrier on Friday 2nd May at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
Residents will be able to see how the site operates on a busy weekday, how traffic is managed on the site and also be able to ask any questions that they may have about the proposed facility.
Local councillors are also being invited on a visit to see the facility at St. Erth.
Local residents who would like to attend are asked to register with the SITA Cornwall helpdesk on 08456 300 300 or Cornwallhelpdesk@sita.co.uk. As St. Erth is an operational site, places on each visit are limited, so residents are politely asked to use the free bus service and to not drive to the St. Erth site. If the numbers require them, more visits will be arranged.
